About Us

We are an independent charity, providing free services to both volunteers and organisations throughout the district of Babergh.

Supporting individuals wanting to volunteer

Volunteering is a wonderfully rewarding activity and there is something for everyone from crewing a boat to mentoring a teenager. We have more than 250 opportunities needing a variety of skills, interests and motivations. To look at these please go on-line, to the website www.do-it.org.

If you would like to chat to a Volunteer Adviser to find out more about volunteering generally or to explore opportunities appropriate to you, then please come into the Volunteer Centre or drop by at one of our regular drop in sessions run throughout Babergh.

We are here to support you until you find the right placement and are happily volunteering. When your placement finishes, or if you would like an additional placement, you are welcome to come back again and keep using our service.

Supporting local volunteer-involving organisations

We help you find suitable volunteers by advertising your volunteering opportunities, matching applicants with your specifications and then sending them on to you.

We also provide help and advice on structures, policies and procedures, for example volunteer policies, agreements and role descriptions. This can be via information sheets, booklets or signposting to appropriate training courses.

The Volunteer Centre Babergh is part of the Volunteer Centres Suffolk Network who operate on a collaborative basis along with its other eight Suffolk based volunteer centre partners. On a national level the Volunteer Centre Babergh is also a member of a national network of over 300 Volunteer Centres who are all supported by the national organisation, Volunteering England.
